Marriage Counseling May Not Be Helping-Why Not?

I ran across this article about marriage counseling, and the key reasons it may not be helping. It is very insightful, and helpful for couples in need. New research shows a rise in divorce for baby boomers, especially 2nd marriages (150% divorce rate). We all need to be informed.

Key reasons are discussed, and solutions recommended for couples who have not had positive results from their marriage counseling experiences.  Findings show that baby boomers now have the highest divorce rate out of all the age groups across the board at 150% . This is really troubling to me as a divorced mother who has not taken that second chance on love.....yet!!!

I do believe in love and second chances. However, it's important to pay close attention to these numbers, and the main reasons second marriages are failing at such a high rate.

Giving marriage counseling a fair chance, going on a regular basis, learning the tools needed to improve your marriage, and being willing to do the homework with patience and commitment together are key.

The author of this article points out the responsibility and accountability factors required by both spouses, 100% of the time.  He reinforced the fact that this is key to their success in rebuilding, strengthening and making their marriage strong again....or even stronger than it was to begin with.  I believe in this.  Do you?

Please read and share it with your loved ones.  It's all about helping each other!

"His Hands"

"Come all ye that are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." People will hurt us, betray us, disappoint us. The Lord is always there for us. I have loved this song, His Hands, for years. It has given me much comfort and peace.
Jesus is played by Tomas Kofod, from Copenhagen, Denmark.  Please enjoy, and share.

The Importance of Telling Our Stories

The power of telling our stories is remarkable. I've posted a must- read article that was referred to me about the importance of telling our own stories. It describes the healing powers of expressing our own life experiences in written form, and the gift of knowledge our stories provide for the ones who listen and read them.

It is all about sharing our life experiences with one another as we navigate our way through life. We have a responsibility as human beings to be there for each another. This includes sharing our personal stories and experiences with family, friends, loved ones, neighbors, colleagues and anyone who can benefit from the knowledge we have gained, and life lessons we have learned.

This is the beauty of social media and technology today. Through books such as, Hope After Divorce, newspapers, magazines, journals, direct verbal communication, music, art, facebook, youtube, blogs, twitter, etc., we can share our personal and inspiring stories with ease.

Please take a moment to read this article written by Rachael Freed for the Huffington Post, entitled, The Importance of Telling Our Stories.  I hope you will share it via your many social media outlets, talk about it and begin to live it.
